About the Founder
The story of Kausheyam Banaras is deeply personal, shaped by the childhood memories and unwavering passion of Saumya Singh. Growing up in Banaras, she was surrounded by the artistry of handloom weaving, with her mother’s collection of exquisite Banarasi sarees serving as her earliest inspiration. From an early age, she was mesmerized by the intricate designs, the richness of the fabric, and the legacy that each saree carried.
Her journey into the world of sarees began long before Kausheyam Banaras was officially launched in late 2024. It was during the lockdown—a period of stillness and reflection—that she rediscovered her mother’s wedding sarees. Holding those timeless pieces, she realized their enduring beauty and the stories they carried across generations. That moment became the spark that turned a lifelong passion into a purposeful endeavor.
While her academic background is in mechanical engineering, her heart was always drawn to the transformative power of fashion. Competing as a Miss India Finalist and working as a model and actor with renowned brands gave her a deeper understanding of how clothing tells a story and evokes emotion. The precision of engineering and the creativity of fashion together shaped her unique perspective, guiding her to build a brand that is both meticulously crafted and artistically inspired.
